Hey Guys. Just thought I'd ask if anyone has cached in the Coal Creek Open Space Preserve? My friends and I wanted to cache there this weekend and wanted to know if anyone knew of a good starting point or any tips for the area since we've never been. Follow the Tags
is in the middle of the park and Fight Back has a link to the map.

One of the caches
in San Jose contains a bunch of old GPS chips as trading prizes. brian1789
was gracious enough to drill some holes in a few of the chips for me so that I could make them into geo-jewelry :-) Here is the result...

Last Friday night, sclcaching
went to dinner to plan some of your road trip this summer. We're planning on going to The Midwest Geobash
in Kendallville, IN. We headed over to Pizza My Heart for dinner and planning...( We were there for 4 hours!Collapse )
So far we have planned:
- 3 week trip (total)
- 3 days to get to Chicago
- 3 days in Chicago (picked museums and other attractions to see)
This took the most time since there's SO much to do in Chicago!
- 3 days for the Midwest Geobash
- 2 weeks+ to get home
- Talked about the route home and possibilities for places to see (spend most of the time in NM and AZ)
Roswell, Mesa Verde, 4 Corners, Albuquerque and Flagstaff and their surrounding areas, Grand Canyon
- Talked about things we would need to bring
- Figured out our total budget and personal budgets
Numbers! (Approx. of course):
295 gallons of gas
$1000 of gas (nearly)
If anyone has traveled through NM or AZ and knows of cool places to see and visit. Please let us know!xposted to sclcaching and geocaching

Looking for some advise
My friends and I have a cache in a park and shares it with another cache. So far there hasn't been confusion between the two (they are both multis). We recently got an email saying that are cache has gotten really wet inside from the last rain so we went to go investigate. It turns out that our cache is fine and the person who emailed us didn't find OUR cache but a very old archived one that was never cleaned up.
Has anyone ever come across this? The person logged the find, but didn't find ours. What is the polite thing to do? I've emailed the person to say that they didn't find our cache and encouraged them to try again. Has this happened to anyone else? Did you delete their find as they didn't actually find it? Or did you just leave it up to them to do it? If this happened to you, what would you expect to be done?
Thanks for the advice! x-posted to geocaching and geocaching_sf

Last weekend, KinQue, Mannard and I headed over to the Marin Headlands to visit Point Bonita Lighthouse. It was a lot of fun, one of our favorite trips in fact.

Super Bowl Caching Photos!
Time for another photo post! Mannard, KinQue and I went caching the morning of Super Bowl Sunday. We decided to have a Non-Super Bowl Party. We are not football fans, but decided to celebrate it anyways. We cached in the morning then had a BBQ and TiVoed the Super Bowl so we could fast forward to the commercials =P( On to the photos...Collapse )

Geocaching Photo Essay - 12/31/06
My friends and I cache together (mostly), but over the Christmas holiday we didn't get much caching in since we needed to spend time with our respective families. On the last day of 2006, we decided to ring in the new year with some caching in Steven's Creek County Park.
First, we decided to try looking for I Love Legos - GCTH72 (a famous cache in these parts). But when we arrived to the aforementioned parking lot near the trail head, it said that the trail was closed. So, we decided to try caching along another trail.
Too busy signing logs and notebooks to look at the camera!
( Onto more photos (~20), enjoyCollapse )

What are your favorite southern CA geocaches along I-5?
I've got a road trip coming up, and am looking for fun geocaches to do along I-5, from around Buttonwillow (above the Grapevine) to San Diego. I'd be willing to drive a mile or two away from the highway, if needed. If you've got particular favorites along that stretch, I'd love to hear of them. Cool settings and small-to-regular size caches preferred. Thanks!
